Competent Learner Model
About the Program
The Competent Learner Model is a teaching program combining the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Precision Teaching, and Direct Instruction. The program is designed to meet the individual needs of naive learners with a variety of learning differences and helps the learner to develop repertoires that are the core of all learning. These repertoires provide the foundation skills to be successful with academic curriculum and the functional skills needed for adulthood.
The implementation of this model was initiated in June 2008 at the Future Rehabilitation Centre.
The Seven Core Repertoires are:
- Participator
- Problem Solver
- Listener
- Observer
- Talker
- Reader
- Writer
