Competent Learner Model

About the Program

The Competent Learner Model is a teaching program combining the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Precision Teaching, and Direct Instruction. The program is designed to meet the individual needs of naive learners with a variety of learning differences and helps the learner to develop repertoires that are the core of all learning. These repertoires provide the foundation skills to be successful with academic curriculum and the functional skills needed for adulthood.

The implementation of this model was initiated in June 2008 at the Future Rehabilitation Centre.

The Seven Core Repertoires are:

  • Participator
  • Problem Solver
  • Listener
  • Observer
  • Talker
  • Reader
  • Writer

Accreditation

The Future Rehabilitation Centre is the first learning institution accredited by the Tucci Learning Solutions, USA, to implement the Competent Learner Model (CLM) in the region. Ms. Vicci Tucci, founder of CLM awarded the first accreditation in June 2010 which has since been renewed twice.   This accreditation validates the integrity of the Future Rehabilitation Centre’s programme and assures the community that the Centre uses established ways to teach its students. Through regular assessment, planning, implementing, monitoring and reassessment, the CLM boosts a student’s achievement while developing the staff member’s ability to formulate, monitor and deliver best practices.
