ADMISSION POLICY
Policy on Non-discrimination: The Future Centre for Special Needs accepts a child as a student regardless of the person’s economic, social, cultural or religious background.
The following are the basic criteria for admission:
A. Availability of seats suitable for a child’s needs : Children at the Centre are placed in appropriate classes that would provide their individual needs to ensure their optimum development of any or all of the following skill areas: physical, occupational, communication, social, mental or cognitive, academic creative and vocational. The Future Centre may only accept a child if there is still seat in the class where he/she fitsB. Age : Future Centre may accept a child as young as 3 and at maximum age of 14 years old.C. Severity of condition : The Future Centre accepts only those with mild to moderate special learning and habilitation needs.
Criteria for Non-admission: Some of the conditions that may be considered for non-admission are:
1. School’s prerogative: The school may decline a person’s admission when it feels that his/her placement in the school is not the best option.2. Behaviour challenges : The child demonstrates or has previous record of severe behavior problems or challenges. Future Centre may also not accept a child who is under medication that is intended to control such severe behaviour problems like aggression, hallucination, paranoia, phobia and others.
3. Medical Condition : The Future Centre accepts children with special learning needs that do not require regular medical attention. Therefore, FCSN may not accept a child with a medical condition that requires regular or maintenance medication, e.g. epilepsy, diabetes, or conditions that require regular medical attention e.g. chronic asthma, heart conditions, blood disorders and others.
